Sedona Hummingbird Festival 2013

Hummingbird Banding Demonstrations

8am-Noon ONLY Fri/Sat/Sun

When a tiny, numbered band is attached as an 'anklet' to a hummingbird, it becomes possible to track the movements of this individual bird, knowledge unobtainable in any other way. The scientific value of this process cannot be understated.

Some lucky people get selected to release each banded hummingbird!

At the Sedona Hummingbird Festival this year we will have demonstrations of this process from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

As in prior years, banding will be conducted by Steve and Debbie Bouricius from Colorado, federally licensed hummingbird banders.
